On Wednesday 8th May 2013, the Institute for Research on the Signs of the Times (DISCERN) will be holding its annual lecture on the theme ‘Faith in an Age of Unbelief’. The guest speaker will be Gavin D’Costa, Professor of Catholic Theology at the University of Bristol. The event will be held at the Hotel Phoenicia, Floriana, at 7:00 p.m.

Fr Federico Lombardi
Pope Francis may publish his first encyclical this year, the Vatican spokesman said. Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi said he “would not exclude” the possibility of the publication of the pope’s first encyclical “within this year,” Vatican Radio reported.

These were the words of people that came to know closely Fr. Eric Overend, the Żejtun Archpriest, during the Mass of his funeral, held yesterday 1st May 2013, at the Parish Church. His coffin was accompanied by his mother Carmen, that had passed away two days before him.
