A day of prayer and fasting: The Church in Malta unites with Pope Francis in global prayer for peace

Today, Monday, October 7, the parishes, religious communities, movements, and groups within the Church, along with families and Christians across Malta and Gozo, are called to unite in response to Pope Francis’ invitation. The Holy Father has asked for a day of prayer, particularly the Rosary, and fasting, for peace in the world and the success of the Jubilee of Hope 2025.

Archdiocese requests suspension of Villa Schinas application

The Archdiocese of Malta has requested the commercial partner entrusted with the restoration of Villa Schinas in Tas-Sliema to suspend with immediate effect the current planning application within the grounds of the property.

Lasallian colleges in Malta move towards co-education

From next year, De La Salle College and Stella Maris College, including St Benild School, will
move towards a co-educational setting. The transformation shall take place over an 11-year
period.

In the 2025/26 scholastic year, the Year 1 intake will be divided equally between boys and
girls at all the Lasallian schools. Entry will take place through the usual procedure of the

The Delegation of Malta and Gozo organised a seminar for SDC Candidates at Dar Betsajda (Malta). Inter-religious Mediterranean conference was “an opportunity to listen, learn, and foster dialogue”

Two Maltese youths, Mark and Gulia, participated in MED24, an inter-religious conference held in Tirana, Albania, in September. Around 50 young people from all five shores of the Mediterranean attended this meeting that brought together individuals of different backgrounds and focused on fostering a culture of inter-religious dialogue and fraternity to create a more peaceful and just society.

The conference’s main theme revolved around the importance of inter-religious dialogue in the Mediterranean region, with discussions focusing on three key topics: narrative – the personal and collective stories that shape individuals; dialogue – the need for empathic and meaningful dialogue between individuals, cultures and religions; and calling – a call to action to counter injustice and promote peace… Read more »
