Cardinal Robert Sarah has become the “proto-deacon”: that is to say that in case of conclave, he will be responsible for announcing the name of the future new pope, and will thus pronounce the famous “Habemus papam” from the balcony of St Peter’s Basilica, noted the newspaper La Croix on May 21, 2018. 

That, of course, is presuming that there would be a conclave before his tenure as proto-deacon ends and also presuming that he himself wouldn’t be elected the next pope! …

Just like his father before him, my oldest son entered seminary — and just like me, he didn’t stay. I hope my other sons will give seminary a try also — and I pray that one is called to be a priest.

Here are the reasons I think they should want to receive that call.

Pope Francis has set the date for the canonization of both Pope Paul VI and Archbishop Oscar Romero for October 14, during the synod on young people.

Pope Paul VI was the pope who closed the Second Vatican Council in 1965.

He died at the papal residence of Castel Gandolfo on August 6, 1978, after being pope for 15 years…
