Pope: Make the world more human by guaranteeing the dignity of persons with disability

Pope Francis encounters a group of disabled people

On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, December 3rd, Pope Francis recalls how the promotion of the right to participation plays a central role in combating discrimination and promoting a culture of encounter and quality of life.

In his message marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Pope Francis notes that “great progress has been made towards people with disabilities in the medical and welfare fields.”

But he highlights the fact that even today there is still a culture of waste with many disabled people feeling that “they exist without belonging and without participating.”

The Pope stresses that “all this calls not only for the rights of people with disabilities and their families to be protected”, but, he adds, “it also urges us to make the world more human” by removing prejudice… Read more »

Illum tasal fi tmiemha d-19-il edizzjoni tal-inizjattiva Orange Campaign li qed tittella’ mill-Għaqda Studenti tat-Teoloġija b’risq il-Fundazzjoni Richmond u l-missjunarji li qegħdin jgħinu lill-vittmi tat-terremot fl-Albanija, li ħalla 51 mejta, 2,000 midruba u 4,000 bla dar. Studenti tat-teoloġija bigħu larinġ magħsur frisk u ħelu varju matul il-jumejn li għaddew.

Pope writes Apostolic Letter on the significance of the nativity scene

Pope Francis has written an Apostolic Letter on the meaning and importance of the nativity scene. He signed the Letter during his visit on Sunday afternoon to the Italian town of Greccio.
