Id f’Id: A youth exchange by ŻAK Ħal Tarxien and Azione Cattolica of San Severo in Italy

During these last few months, a group of Maltese young people from ŻAK Ħal Tarxien between 16 and 25 years were planning a youth exchange, to spend a week in Malta with a group of young people from Italy and explore a particular theme together through several activities. Pope prays for war victims as Ukraine conflict marks six months

At the conclusion of the General Audience, Pope Francis renewed his invitation to everyone to pray for peace from the Lord for “the beloved Ukrainian people who have been suffering the horrors of war for six months now.”

He recalled the dangerous situation concerning the Zaporizhia nuclear plant, and asked that concrete steps be taken to avert the risk of a catastrophe.

A further €1.7 m investment toward restoration of Jesuits’ Church in Valletta

F’għeluq is-sena mit-twaqqif tal-Fondazzjoni tal-Knisja tal-Ġiżwiti fil-Belt Valletta, il-Ministru għall-Wirt Nazzjonali, l-Arti u l-Gvern Lokali Owen Bonnici ħabbar investiment ta’ €1.7 miljun f’xogħlijiet ta’ restawr fil-Knisja u l-Kulleġġ tal-Ġiżwiti li se jiżdiedu mat-€2.8 miljun li diġà ġew investiti mill-2015 sal-lum, sabiex din il-ġawhra patrimonjali tirritorna għall-istat glorjuż tagħha u tkompli titgawda mill-ġenerazzjonijiet preżenti u futuri.

Parish priest placed on administrative leave

The Archdiocese of Malta has been informed that the parish priest of Marsaxlokk is due to face charges related to misappropriation of funds and money laundering. 

The priest has been placed on administrative leave with immediate effect while proceedings are underway. 

The parish will be placed under the care of an administrator appointed by Archbishop Charles Scicluna.  

The Archdiocese has offered its full cooperation to the authorities and will seek to establish whether long-standing policies related to donations have been followed by the parish priest. 

Since proceedings are underway, the Archdiocese will not be commenting further on this case and appeals to the media to respect the presumption of innocence so that justice can take its full and proper course… Read more »
