Archbishop: Action needed on rainwater harvesting

Malta needs to devise better methods of harvesting rainwater due to the increasing scarcity of this “essential component of life” due to climate change, Archbishop Charles Scicluna said. 

Speaking during a presentation of a book entitled ‘The History of Water Conservation on the Maltese Islands’ by graphic designer and author Steven Mallia, the Archbishop highlighted experts’ concerns on Malta’s depleted water table and said timely action was necessary to conserve and make better use of the underground water storage facilities built by our forefathers.

Armed Forces of Malta concert in aid of Dar tal-Providenza

Church objects to planned apartment block dwarfing historic chapel

The Archdiocese of Malta has joined hundreds of others in objecting to a development application that would see a Żejtun townhouse dating back to the 18th century replaced by an apartment block that would dwarf its neighbour: the 17th century St Clement’s Chapel.

PA/6418/22 would see the existing townhouse – and its garden – which occupy a triangular plot at the junction between Triq San Klement and Triq Joe Attard torn down and replaced with a five-storey structure which would house ground-floor garages and a single office, nine apartments and a  penthouse… Read more »

Catholic Education Secretariat signs agreement with MUT for Student Support Services Grades

The Secretariat for Catholic Education today signed an agreement with the Malta Union of Teachers (MUT) to cover those engaged as Student Support Services Grades.

More than 20 employees who offer their services to Church schools will benefit from this agreement, which is being backdated to January 1, 2019, and reflects the one signed between MUT and the State.

The Student Support Services Grades — which include psychosocial professionals, such as counsellors and other specialisations — will now see an improvement in their salaries as well as deserved recognition for their work… Read more »

A rush of adrenaline for a great cause!

Missio Malta, in collaboration with the Mosta Scout Group are once again inviting members of the public to get their adrenaline going at the annual Abseiling & Zipline Weekend at Mosta Bridge on the 12th and 13th November. 

The event which is in its 11th edition, shall be raising funds for Maltese missions in Ethiopia.
