A choice in favour of life – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass in memory of aborted babies

The Chapel of the Annunciation, Rabat

“Il-poplu li kien miexi fid-dlam ra dawl kbir”. Dan hu li naqraw fil-Profeta Iżaija, u l-Evanġelju jgħidilna kif dan seħħ f’Ġesù: hu d-dawl kbir li l-poplu kellu bżonn. Fil-ħajja ta’ Ġesù dejjem hemm dan il-kuntrast bejn id-dawl u d-dlam, sa mill-bidu nett. Hu għalhekk li Ġesù jgħid: “Jiena hu d-dawl tad-dinja. Min jimxi warajja ma jimxix fid-dlam, imma jkollu d-dawl tal-ħajja” (Ġw 8:12).

Hu Ġesù li jurina b’ħajtu u bit-tagħlim tiegħu dak li aħna għandna nħaddnu bħala dawl, u jurina wkoll id-dlam li rridu nevitaw… Read more »

The Archbishop asks: whose witnesses are we?

Mass on the feast of the Conversion of St Paul

  St Paul's Cathedral, Mdina

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

“Sawl, Sawl għaliex qiegħed tippersegwitani?” (Atti 22:7). Din hi l-ewwel kelma li l-appostlu Missierna, li aħna nafuh ukoll bit-tieni isem tiegħu Pawlu, isem Ruman li jissieħeb mal-isem Lhudi Sawlu li x’aktarx ingħata fiċ-ċirkonċiżjoni tiegħu ta’ tmint ijiem, dan hu l-ewwel kliem li jisma’ mingħand Ġesù.

L-ewwel nett hu kliem personali ħafna. Ġesù lil dan ir-raġel isejjaħlu b’ismu. U l-isem ifisser li Ġesù għandu għatx kbir li jidħol fi djalogu dirett ma’ dan ir-raġel… Read more »

Gospel: Matthew 4:12-23

When Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew to Galilee. He left Nazareth and went to live in Capernaum by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali, that what had been said through Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled: Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way to the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles, the people who sit in darkness have seen a great light, on those dwelling in a land overshadowed by death light has arisen.”

From that time on, Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” As he was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen… Read more »

Live-in for parish priests 2023: The joy of being a priest

  Mellieħa

Il-kappillani tal-Arċidjoċesi ta’ Malta rriflettew fuq it-tema ‘Il-ferħ li tkun saċerdot’ waqt il-live-in annwali. Din is-sena l-live-in, li sar il-Mellieħa, kien iktar ibbażat fuq stil ta’ diskussjoni bit-tir li l-kappillani jkomplu jsaħħu r-relazzjoni bejniethom. Fil-fatt din is-sena l-parteċipanti kienu bilqiegħda madwar mejda u għalhekk kellhom iktar ċans jiddiskutu l-punti li tqajmu bejniethom kif ukoll kuljum ħadu sehem f’sessjonijiet ta’ team building.

Matul dawn it-tlitt ijiem ta’ riflessjoni u diskussjoni, diversi kelliema u esperti għenu lill-kappillani jifhmu kif jistgħu jieħdu ħsieb dak li jagħmilhom kuntenti bħala saċerdoti kif ukoll jittrasmettu dan il-ferħ, kif jieħdu ħsieb tagħhom infushom u ta’ kappillani oħra billi jżommu kuntatt magħhom, kif ukoll jieħdu ħsieb tas-saċerdoti li jaħdmu fil-parroċċi tagħhom… Read more »
