Dear brothers and sisters,

It is with great joy that we welcome the news that His Holiness Pope Francis will visit Malta on the 31st May 2020, the Solemnity of Pentecost.

Good, gentle and welcoming

The news that Pope Francis will be visiting Malta in May was welcomed with great joy. The announcement was made on the 10th February, during the solemn pontifical of St Paul’s Shipwreck – a feast that is cherished by us Maltese since the shipwreck of St Paul is considered to be the birth of the Catholic faith in Malta.

Last January, the Pope reflected several times on the passage from the Acts of the Apostles that narrates St Paul’s shipwreck on Malta, and he spoke in particular about the compassionate heart of the Maltese people who welcomed Paul and the other 275 travelling companions… Read more »

Cherishing those who are vulnerable and weak – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass on World Day of the Sick

The Sanctuary of St Therese, Birkirkara

L-Omelija tal-Isqof Awżiljarju Joseph Galea-Curmi

Il-Papa Franġisku, li se jkollna x-xorti li nilqgħuh fostna Malta fil-31 ta’ Mejju, nhar Għid il-Ħamsin, ftit ġranet ilu ħareġ messaġġ għall-okkażjoni tal-lum – it-28 Jum Dinji tal-Morda. F’dan il-messaġġ jirrifletti fuq il-kliem ta’ Ġesù: “Ejjew għandi, intom ilkoll li tinsabu mħabbtin u mtaqqlin, u jiena nserraħkom” (Mt 11:28).

Nixtieq li nirriflettu fuq dan il-kliem ta’ Ġesù u naraw ir-rabta tiegħu ma’ dan l-Evanġelju skont San Ġwann li għadna kemm smajna, magħruf bħala tat-Tieġ ta’ Kana… Read more »

Mass on the eve of the feast of St Paul’s Shipwreck

The Collegiate Parish Church of St Paul's Shipwreck, Valletta

L-Omelija tal-Isqof Awżiljarju Joseph Galea-Curmi

Hemm frażi fir-rakkont li għadna kemm smajna mill-Atti tal-Appostli li tgħid hekk: “Ġabu ruħhom magħna bi ħlewwa liema bħalha” (Atti 28:2). Hi frażi li tagħmlilna ġieħ lilna l-Maltin, meta naqrawha u nerġgħu naqrawha, u niftakru li tant snin ilu l-Maltin ta’ żmien San Pawl, meta waslu dawn in-nies ħafna minnhom priġunieri fuq ġifen li kien inqabad f’tempesta u kien wasal hawnhekk mingħajr ħadd ma ried li jasal hawn, ġabu ruħhom bi ħlewwa liema bħalha… Read more »

Jesus said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation. He who believes and is baptised will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that attended it.  Read more »
