Pope Francis has appointed Cardinal Mario Grech as a member of the Dicastery for Bishops, formerly known as the Congregation for Bishops.

Cardinal Grech, who serves as secretary general of the Synod of Bishops, is one of 14 new members who will sit on the department of the Roman Curia that oversees the selection of new bishops.

Last month, Cardinal Grech was also appointed as a member of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.
