On Thursday 20th January 2011, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. visited St. Margaret College, Zabbar Primary ‘A’. The school has a population of 468, comprising children from Kindergarten I to Year 2. Zabbar Parish Priest, Fr Sebastian Caruana, and the College Principal, Mr Stephen Cachia, accompanied the Archbishop. On entering the school playground the Archbishop was welcomed by the children who waved Maltese and Vatican City flags. The children then sang ‘O Happy Day’. A girl from a Year 2 class read the welcoming message. The Archbishop blessed a Holy Picture of the Guardian Angel and addressed the children and staff. After watching a performance by two Year 2 classes, the Archbishop held informal meetings with the Senior Management Team, clerical staff, ancillary staff and a group of parents. While visiting the classrooms, His Excellency took the opportunity of viewing parts of lessons and talking to the children. The Archbishop was presented with a handmade picture – made by the Kindergarten children. The programme ended in the school playground where the children sang and danced to the song ‘I will follow Him.’ Meanwhile, a number of children, holding balloons, proceeded to the centre of the playground, formed a circle and let off the balloons.
