The Oratories cultural programme at the Jesuits’ Church in Valletta is back for a fifth season full of great music, literature, history and culture. This year’s season opening concert on Saturday 10th October at 7:30pm, marks the first cultural event inside the newly restored church.

To commemorate this important milestone, the Foundation has commissioned a brand new oratorio from its very own artistic director, Alexander Vella Gregory. The new oratorio, titled Salvator Mundi, narrates the infancy of Christ as told in the Synoptic Gospels, a theme that ties in with the dedication of the Jesuits’ Church to the circumcision of Our Lord.

The Oratorio will be performed by the Band of the Armed Forces of Malta, under the direction of Captain Twanny Borg with the participation of sopranos Kelsey Carabott and Dorothy Bezzina, mezzo Claire Massa, tenor Tom Armitage, and bass Louis A. Cassar. They will be joined by vocalists from the Opera Nova Project and Cappella Sanctae Catharinae, and Gisele Grima on continuo.

As with the rest of The Oratories cultural programme, this event is open to everyone and is free of charge. Donations are welcome. Visit www.jesuitschurchfoundation.org or social media for the full cultural & liturgical programme of The Oratories.
