Pope in Castel Gandolfo

A video clip from the Vatican Television Center offers an inside look at Benedict XVI’s time of “rest” at the papal summer residence in Castel Gandolfo.

The images portray the Pope going over a manuscript in his office, contemplating the landscape from a window of the apostolic palace and reciting the rosary together with his secretary, Monsignor Georg Gaenswein. As the Pontiff and the monsignor walk and pray, viewers see the Holy Father in a white baseball cap to protect himself from the sun.

The report that accompanies the clip notes that during this time of rest, Benedict XVI is working on the third and final volume of his book “Jesus of Nazareth.” This volume will consider Jesus’ childhood; Vol. 2 on the Passion and Resurrection is currently being translated and prepared for publication.
