The Council of the Bishops’ Conferences of Europe (CCEE) is turning its focus to the new evangelization, with two meetings on the topic scheduled this month.
Two consecutive CCEE meetings — a meeting of the general secretaries which started Thursday, and then a meeting of the media officers and spokespersons starting Saturday — will look at the “new” evangelization of the continent.
A statement from the CCEE noted this is the first time to bring together the general secretaries and the spokespersons to discuss together the issue of Church communication.
The secretaries are looking at some specific aspects of the new evangelization, including the spiritual life in the midst of today’s accelerated, high-stress lifestyles and the relationship between culture and faith.
When the spokespersons arrive on Saturday, they will discuss with the secretaries effectively proclaiming the Gospel even in difficult circumstances.
That evening, the first version of EuroCathInfo will be presented, the institutional information portal of the bishops’ conferences in Europe.
The spokespersons will then begin their own reflections on the new evangelization.
