The Gozo Diocese presented a cheque of €20,000 to Fr Martin Micallef, Director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza. The sum was collected during the RTK4Charity Open Day that is organized annually at the Home in Siggiewi on New Year’s Day by RTK radio. Gozo Bishop, Mgr Mario Grech visited the Home on Saturday and took time to meet up with the residents and care workers. He had talks with Fr Martin and the Home’s administration.
The Bishop also found time to chat with the youths that are presently training and preparing for the Volleyball Marathon that is being organized as a fund raiser for the Home. Bishop Grech said that in a society that is becoming more and more individualistic it is indeed heartening to see so many of the younger generation engaging in the voluntary gesture that should be applauded and encouraged. He mentioned how dear is id-Dar tal-Providenza to Maltese society and he encouraged all Maltese and Gozitans alike to continue to sustain the Home and its noble mission.
During the visit, Bishop Grech was accompanied by Fr Michael Borg, Director of the office for the Promotion of the Human Person of the Diocese of Gozo and Fr Eddie Zammit, his Personal Assistant.
