Archbishop Charles Scicluna has appointed Fr Matthew Pulis as the parish priest of Saint Joseph Parish, Manikata. The Archbishop thanks Fr Peter Paul Sultana for his pastoral service within the community.
Fr Matthew Pulis was born on 30th July 1984. He began his journey to the priesthood at the Archbishop’s Seminary in Tal-Virtù, Rabat, and read a degree in Philosophy and Theology at the Faculty of Theology, at the University of Malta. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Digital Theology and another in Informatics. Currently, he is reading for a Doctorate in Practical Theology at Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam. He also lectures at the faculties of Social Wellbeing, FEMA and Education, as well at the Pastoral Formation Institute.
Fr Matthew Pulis served as a deacon in the parishes of Marsaskala and Durham, in the United Kingdom. He was ordained a priest on 27th April 2019 and has served in the parishes of Ħad-Dingli (2019) and Kalkara (2021). Since 2021, he has also been the chaplain at St Joseph School, Tas-Sliema.
The Manikata Parish has a population of approximately 1,087 people.
