In a graduation ceremony held at the San Blas Therapeutic Center, Caritas Malta Director Anthony Gatt highlighted significant shifts in Malta’s drug landscape, with cannabis now overtaking heroin as the primary reason people seek assistance.

The event, celebrating nine individuals who successfully completed drug rehabilitation programs, shed light on emerging challenges in substance abuse patterns.

Gatt reported a landmark change in treatment-seeking behaviour: “For the first time they sought help more for cannabis than for heroin.”

According to Gatt, of the 808 clients who contacted Caritas last year, 21% sought help for cannabis use, compared to 17% for heroin… Read more »

Just believe – Bishop Joseph Galea‑Curmi

  Annunciation Church, Balzan

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Hemm dettal fl-Evanġelju llum li jgħaqqad iż-żewġ rakkonti, dak tat-tifla ta’ Ġajru u dak tal-mara li kienet tbati bit-tnixxiegħa tad-demm – rakkonti li huma flimkien, wieħed ġol-ieħor. It-tifla ta’ Ġajru, li kienet waslet fl-aħħar u missierha talab lil Ġesù biex ifejjaqha, kellha tnax-il sena. U l-mara li misset il-mantar ta’ Ġesù biex tfiq kienet ilha tnax-il sena tbati bit-tnixxiegħa tad-demm. Tnax-il sena ta’ tbatija għall-mara, u tnax-il sena li wasslet għall-mewt tat-tifla ta’ Ġajru… Read more »

Let’s encounter Jesus through confession and Holy Communion – The Archbishop

The Parish Church of Our Lady of Mt Carmel, Gżira

Waħda minnhom ta’ adulta tfittxu hi, b’fidi kbira… Read more »

St Peter and St Paul: God’s work of mercy and grace – The Archbishop

Mass on the feast of St Peter and St Paul

The Cathedral of St Paul, Mdina

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

“Ħarsu lejh u jiddi bil-ferħ wiċċkom u ma jkollkomx għax tistħu” (Salm 33:6). Dan il-vers mis-salm li qrajna llum f’dil-festa solenni joqgħod tajjeb ħafna għall-esperjenza li kellhom l-Appostli Pietru u Pawlu. It-tnejn li huma kellhom ix-xorti jitfgħu l-ħarsa tagħhom fuq Ġesù. Pietru ħares lejn Ġesù kemm-il darba meta dan kien fostna. L-Iben ta’ Alla magħmul bniedem kien fostna, jgħallem, iterraq u jagħmel il-ġid… Read more »
