Some throw the net, others fix it – Bishop Galea-Curmi

  Parish Church, Balzan

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Ġesù mar il-Galilija jxandar l-Evanġelju ta’ Alla” (Mk 1:14). Dan hu l-mod kif jiftaħ l-Evanġelju tal-lum, skont San Mark, u mal-ewwel l-enfasi hi fuq il-kelma: il-kelma li Ġesù jwassal li hi l-Aħbar it-Tajba. Għalhekk ‘l-Evanġelju’ – kelma li tfisser l-Aħbar it-Tajba.

F’dan il-Ħadd partikolari – it-Tielet Ħadd tas-Sena – il-Papa Franġisku jistedinna nirriflettu b’mod speċjali fuq il-kelma ta’ Alla, li għandha tkun kelma li aħna nisimgħu, li sservi ta’ ispirazzjoni għall-ħajja tagħna, u li aħna nwasslu lill-oħrajn… Read more »

First stay with him, then work for him – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Tela’ fuq l-għolja” (Mk 3:13). Hekk naqraw fuq Ġesù fl-Evanġelju skont San Mark. Mal-ewwel, kif naraw li “tela’ fuq l-għolja”, hu ċar li se jkollna ġrajja ta’ importanza kbira, għaliex fl-Iskrittura l-għolja hi dejjem il-post fejn hemm manifestazzjoni speċjali ta’ Alla jew ġrajja partikulari. Fil-fatt, hawnhekk Ġesù jagħżel it-tnax-l appostlu, u għandna wkoll ismihom f’din is-silta.

Nixtieq li naraw din is-silta qasira u sabiħa li fiha hemm diversi punti li jolqtu lilna lkoll fil-ħajja tagħna… Read more »

Pope at Angelus: proclaiming the Gospel is not wasted time

  St Peter's Square, the Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, good morning!

The Gospel today recounts the vocation of the first disciples (cf. Mk 1:14-20). And this tells us something important: the Lord loves to involve us in His work of salvation, He wants us to be active with Him, He wants us to be responsible and protagonists… Read more »
