The Gospel of the day: 19th April

Readings of the day

First Reading: Acts 9:1-20
Psalm: 116 (117):1,2

Gospel: John 6:52-59

In those days, the Jews disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” So Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them.

Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like that which your ancestors ate, and they died… Read more »

Pope at Audience – Do not allow a moment’s anger to ruin relationships and friendships

  Saint Peter's Square, The Vatican

The philosopher Aristotle wrote his most important treatise on ethics, addressing it to his son Nicomachus, to instruct him in the art of living… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 18th April

Readings of the day

First Reading: Acts 8:26-40
Psalm: 65 (66):8-9,16-17,20

Gospel: John 6:44-51

In those days, Jesus said to the crowd: “No one can come to me unless drawn by the Father who sent me; and I will raise that person up on the last day. It is written in the prophets, “And they shall all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me. Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God; he has seen the Father.

Very truly, I tell you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven… Read more »
