Do not set aside our lives, do not set aside our country – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Oħroġ, ja spirtu ħażin, minn dan il-bniedem!” (Mk 5:8) Dan hu li Ġesù jgħid lil dan il-bniedem, kif rajna fl-Evanġelju llum. Huwa każ ta’ Ġesù li jeħles lil dan il-bniedem mill-ispirtu ħażin, anzi minn spirti ħżiena fih. Ġesù kien għadu kif qasam il-baħar bid-dgħajsa, u ġie n-naħa l-oħra flimkien mad-dixxipli tiegħu. U mal-ewwel jersaq fuqu dal-bniedem. Nafu li Ġesù, bħalma għamel f’ċirkustanzi oħra, l-ewwel ħaġa li jagħmel hu li lil dal-bniedem jeħilsu mill-ispirti ħżiena ta’ ġo fih… Read more »

Pope at Angelus – Am I capable of saying “no” to the temptations of evil?

  Saint Peter's Square, The Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, buongiorno!

Today’s Gospel shows us Jesus freeing a person possessed by an “evil spirit” (see Mk 1:21-28), tormenting and making them scream (see. vv. 23, 26). This is how the devil acts this is the way he acts: he wants to take possession of us in order to “enchain our souls.” To enchain our souls: this is what the devil wants… Read more »

They had a reason to be in awe – Bishop Galea-Curmi

  Parish Church, Balzan

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Baqgħu mistagħġbin” (Mk 1:22). Dawn iż-żewġ kelmiet ifissru dak li n-nies ħassew meta kienu qed jisimgħu lil Ġesù fis-sinagoga ta’ Kafarnahum. L-Evanġelju jgħidilna li Ġesù, meta wasal Kafarnahum, malajr daħal fis-sinagoga u qagħad jgħallem; u ħoloq dan l-istagħġib.

X’kienet ir-raġuni? Għaliex stagħġbu meta semgħuh jitkellem? Qal xi ħaġa ta’ barra minn hawn, jew diskors mhux f’postu? Xejn minn dan! … Read more »

In an interview with the Italian newspaper ‘La Stampa’, Pope Francis renews calls for a global ceasefire, warning the world is on the brink of the abyss, and says the recent declaration ‘Fiducia supplicans’ seeks to include, not divide.

“There was the Oslo agreement—so clear—with the solution of the two states. Until that agreement is applied, true peace remains distant.”

This is Pope Francis’ judgment on events in the Holy Land, following the attacks by Hamas and the war that is destroying the cities of the Gaza Strip… Read more »
