In those days, Jesus summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to cure every disease and every sickness. These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon, also known as Peter, and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, the one who betrayed him.

Mass on the feast of St Benedict

The Monastery of St Peter, Mdina

Qegħdin infakkru wieħed mill-patruni tal-Ewropa. San Pawlu VI ddikjara lil San Benedittu patrun tal-Ewropa, u r-raġuni kienet li b’dak li beda fis-seklu 6 qajjem il-kultura Ewropea miġbura madwar il-monasteri bħala ċentri ta’ talb, ta’ kultura, ta’ xogħol, ta’ agrikoltura, ċentri ta’ ċivilizzazzjoni.

Aħna rridu nitolbu l-interċessjoni ta’ San Benedittu llum biex din iċ-ċiviltà tal-imħabba, tat-talb, tal-bżulija, tkompli ssib propju ambjent fejn tikber u tixtered, mhux biss fuq il-kontinent tagħna, imma fostna u fid-dinja… Read more »

He gazed upon him with compassion and He chose him – Bishop Galea-Curmi

  Parish Church, Attard

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Hemm pittura sabiħa ta’ Caravaggio li qiegħda fi knisja f’Ruma – il-knisja ta’ San Luigi dei Francesi. Qiegħda f’kappella fejn fil-fatt hemm tliet pitturi dwar San Mattew. Waħda minnhom hi s-sejħa ta’ Mattew, u tesprimi b’mod sabiħ ħafna dak li smajna fl-Evanġelju llum.

Is-sejħa ta’ Ġesù

Mattew qiegħed bilqiegħda flimkien ma’ erba’ oħra, madwar mejda li fuqha hemm il-flus, u tnejn minnhom qed iħarsu lejn il-flus u jibqgħu jħarsu lejn il-flus… Read more »

Pope at Angelus: God reveals himself by liberating and healing the human person

  Saint Peter's Square

Dear brothers and sisters, buongiorno!

Today the Gospel contains a very beautiful prayer Jesus addresses to the Father, saying, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children” (Mt 11:25). But what things is Jesus talking about? And then, who are these little children to whom such things are revealed? … Read more »
