Residents at Dar Saura to be relocated to better residences

Residents at one of the Church’s residences for the elderly, Dar Saura in Rabat, are to be relocated to more modern residences to ensure they can be provided with the care and dignity they deserve.

Archdiocese Administrative Secretary Michael Pace Ross said: “In recent years, it has become clear that, without major refurbishment, Dar Saura is no longer able to deliver the quality of life its 45 residents deserve, and the Church will therefore be providing better alternatives for them.

“We naturally appreciate this move will cause some disruption to their lives and will be doing everything possible to make the transition as smooth and stress-free as possible… Read more »

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Strieħ, kul, ixrob, ixxala” (Lq 12:19). Dan hu li r-raġel għani tal-parabbola fl-Evanġelju llum jgħid lilu nnifsu għax jibda jaħseb biex iħott l-imħażen li għandu ħalli jibni mħażen ġodda. L-Evanġelju jgħid li kellu kotra ta’ frott mir-raba’ u ma kellux fejn iqiegħdu, u għalhekk beda jaħseb kif se jagħmel ħalli jaħżen dan il-ġid kollu tiegħu. Blessed are those slaves whom the master finds alert when he comes; truly I tell you, he will fasten his belt and have them sit down to eat, and he will come and serve them. If he comes during the middle of the night, or near dawn, and finds them so, blessed are those slaves.”

Pope at Angelus: What image do I carry inside myself?

  Saint Peter's Square, The Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, buongiorno!

The Gospel of today’s Liturgy tells us about some pharisees who join with the Herodians to set a trap for Jesus. They were always trying to set traps for Him. They go to Him and ask: “Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” (Mt 22:17). It is a ruse: if Jesus legitimizes the tax, He places Himself on the side of a political power that is ill-supported by the people, whereas if He says not to pay it, He can be accused of rebellion against the empire… Read more »
