Talba għat-Tqarbina tax-Xewqa

Ġesù, jiena nemmen li Inti tinsab tabilħaqq fis-Sagrament tal-Ewkaristija.
Irrid inħobbok fuq kollox u fuq kulħadd.
Inti taf li nixtieq nirċevik ġewwa fija.
Imma ġaladarba bħalissa ma nistax nilqgħek ġewwa fija sagramentalment,
nitolbok li tiġi fija spiritwalment.
Ejja għandi Ġesù tiegħi, biex jiena niġi għandek… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 31st July

Readings of the day

First Reading: Exodus 32:15-24.30-34
Psalm: 105 (106):19-20,21-22,23

Gospel: Matthew 13:31-35

In those days, Jesus put before the crowd another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in his field; it is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”

He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour until all of it was leavened.”

Jesus told the crowds all these things in parables; without a parable he told them nothing. This was to fulfill what had been spoken through the prophet: “I will open my mouth to speak in parables; I will proclaim what has been hidden from the foundation of the world.”

A big fortune – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Parish Church of St Anne, Marsaskala

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“X’xorti kellha dik Sant’Anna, il-Bambin jgħidilha nanna,
Xortih tajba San Ġwakkin, nannu jgħidlu l-Bambin!”

Din it-taqbila popolari fil-folklor Malti tfisser b’mod tajjeb ħafna l-festa li qed niċċelebraw illum, li hija l-festa ta’ Sant’Anna, patruna ta’ din il-parroċċa ta’ Wied il-Għajn, u fl-istess waqt b’enfasi partikulari fuq in-nanniet. Dan għaliex illum Sant’Anna qed tfakkarna dak li smajna lil Ġesù jgħid fl-Evanġelju, u li jgħodd ħafna għaliha u għar-raġel tagħha San Ġwakkin: “Ħenjin għajnejkom għax qegħdin jaraw, ħenjin widnejkom għax qegħdin jisimgħu” (Mt 13:16)… Read more »

It is in our hands if we allow His Word to reap fruit within us – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Il-parabbola tal-bidwi li ħareġ jiżra’ hija parabbola li għandha messaġġ importanti ħafna għall-ħajja tagħna. Hawnhekk Ġesù jispjega din il-parabbola ta’ dan il-bidwi li kien qed jiżra’, u ż-żerrigħat waqgħu f’erba’ postijiet differenti: mal-mogħdija, f’art kollha blat, qalb ix-xewk u f’art tajba, ħamrija tajba. U l-messaġġ li qed jagħti Ġesù f’din il-parabbola, l-ewwel nett hu li ż-żerriegħa, li hi l-Kelma ta’ Alla, għandha l-qawwa li tagħmel il-frott… Read more »
