Catechesis – The Apostolic Journey to the Kingdom of Bahrein

Dear brothers and sisters, good morning!

It’s a bit cold, isn’t it? But it’s beautiful.

Before beginning to speak about what I have prepared, I would like to draw attention to these two children who have come up here. They did not ask permission. They did not say, “I am afraid”… Read more »

Era should have veto on Planning matters

Statement by the Interdiocesan Commission for the Environment for World Town Planning Day 2022

The Interdiocesan Commission for the Environment calls on the authorities to provide the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) with a veto on development applications and planning policies that have a significant bearing on the quality of life.

The Commission believes this veto power also be extended to the proposed Authority responsible for Agricultural Land in matters relating to agricultural land.

In a statement to mark World Town Planning Day 2022, the Commission said while it welcomes the new draft National Strategy for the Environment 2050 and the White Paper on Agricultural Reform, the success of these initiatives is highly dependent on a supportive land use planning framework… Read more »

“Kulma għamiltu ma’ wieħed mill-iżgħar fost dawn ħuti għamiltuh miegħi”. Dan hu l-kliem li jgħid Ġesù fl-Evanġelju llum skont San Mattew, meta jippreżentalna x-xena tal-ġudizzju li jagħmel Alla, ġudizzju li hu mibni fuq l-għajnuna lil min hu fil-bżonn. U dan hu l-kliem li jiġini f’moħħi mill-ewwel meta niftakar fiz-ziju Karmenu. Jien ċert li hemm ħafna minn dawn iż-żgħar li jsemmi Ġesù li jħossu l-istess… Read more »

Scandal, forgiveness and faith – Bishop Galea-Curmi

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Bil-Malti ngħidu “fuq tlieta toqgħod il-borma”, u f’din is-silta qasira llum, mill-Evanġelju skont San Luqa, Ġesù jkellimna fuq tliet punti importanti għall-ħajja tagħna.

L-ewwel nett, fuq l-iskandli. Jgħid kliem iebes ħafna: Ħażin għalih min jagħti skandlu. Aħna nafu li Ġesù fl-Evanġelju l-iktar kliem iebes li qal kien fuq l-ipokresija u fuq l-iskandlu. Hawn jgħid: “Ikun aktar jaqbillu jekk jorbtulu ma’għonqu ġebla ta’ tħin u jitfgħuh il-baħar milli jagħti skandlu” (Lq 17:2)… Read more »

First Reading: Titus 2:1-8,11-14
Psalm: 36 (37):3-4,18,23,27 & 29

Gospel: Luke 17:7-10

In those days, Jesus said: “Who among you would say to your slave who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field, “Come here at once and take your place at the table’? Would you not rather say to him, “Prepare supper for me, put on your apron and serve me while I eat and drink; later you may eat and drink’? Do you thank the slave for doing what was commanded?

So you also, when you have done all that you were ordered to do, say, “We are worthless slaves; we have done only what we ought to have done!’ ”  Read more »
