Let’s not blaspheme against the Holy Spirit – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Għandu fih lil Begħelżebul”. Din kienet l-akkuża li għamlu l-kittieba li niżlu minn Ġerusalemm, kif naqraw fl-Evanġelju skont San Mark – l-akkuża li għamlu kontra Ġesù. Ġesù hawnhekk kien il-Galilija, u l-Galilija sab ħafna nies jilqgħuh. Imma sab ukoll oppożizzjoni minn dawn il-kittieba li niżlu minn Ġerusalemm u bdew jgħidu mhux biss li għandu xitan, imma li għandu fih il-prinċep tax-xjaten, u li bis-saħħa tal-prinċep tax-xjaten qed ikeċċi x-xjaten… Read more »

The Chapel of Stella Maris College, Gżira

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Aħna u nfakkru l-Qaddej ta’ Alla, Bro. Louis, tajjeb li niftakru fih, hu u jgħix u jwettaq il-kliem tal-Evanġelju ta’ San Mattew li l-Knisja taqra u tħabbar fil-festa tal-fundatur għażiż, San Jean-Baptiste de La Salle. “Tassew ngħidilkom, li jekk intom ma terġgħux issiru bħat-tfal iż-żgħar, żgur li ma tidħlux fis-Saltna tas-Smewwiet. U għalhekk l-ikbar wieħed fis-Saltna tas-Smewwiet hu dak li jċekken lilu nnifsu” (Mt 18:3-4)… Read more »

Pope at Angelus: The Word of God is the beacon that guides the synodal journey that has begun throughout the Church

  The Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, buongiorno!

In the Gospel of today’s liturgy, we see Jesus beginning his preaching (cf. Lk 4:14-21): it is Jesus’ first sermon. He goes to Nazareth, where he grew up, and participates in prayer in the synagogue. He gets up to read and, in the scroll of the prophet Isaiah, he finds the passage regarding the Messiah, who proclaims a message of consolation and liberation for the poor and oppressed (cf. Is 61:1-2)… Read more »

Psalm: 89(88):20,21-22,25-26

The scribes who had come from Jerusalem said of Jesus, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “By the prince of demons he drives out demons.”
Summoning them, he began to speak to them in parables, “How can Satan drive out Satan?
If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand… Read more »

The Word that helps us to live freely – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass on the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Chapel of St Paul's Shipwreck, San Pawl tat-Tarġa, Naxxar

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Bir-reqqa kollha qgħadt infittex it-tagħrif”. Hekk jikteb San Luqa fil-bidu tal-Evanġelju tiegħu, meta beda biex jgħid il-ġrajja ta’ Ġesù.

Waħda mill-affarijiet sbieħ fil-ħajja hi li tkompli titgħallem, li tkompli tirsisti biex tkun taf, biex ikollok it-tagħrif. Nafu li jekk ma tagħmilx hekk, tistaġna.

Nikbru fit-tagħlim

Din tgħodd ukoll fil-ħajja tal-fidi tagħna. Jekk aħna ngħidu, f’mument minnhom, li tgħallimna biżżejjed, li nafu kollox, inkunu żbaljati, għax hemm bżonn li nkomplu nikbru fit-tagħlim, u dan tul ħajjitna kollha… Read more »

The conversion of St Paul is the beginning of our conversion – The Archbishop

  St Paul's Cathedral, Mdina

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

“Morru fid-dinja kolha xandru l-Bxara t-Tajba” (Mk 14:15). Dan il-kmand li Ġesù jagħtina joqgħod ħafna għalikom, għeżież Karl Andrew u Malcolm, intom u tirċievu mingħand il-Knisja din is-sejħa li fil-laqgħat tagħha, fil-laqgħat tal-ġemgħa taqraw il-Kelma ta’ Alla u xxandruha b’ħajjitkom. U qegħdin tirċievu dan id-don: il-ministeru tal-Lettorat, propju aħna u nibdew u niċċelebraw f’dan il-katidral is-solennità tal-konverżjoni tal-Appostlu Missierna filwaqt li qed niċċelebraw il-jum li fih infakkru lil min laqa’ lil Pawlu, lill-protos ta’ din il-gżira li kien jismu Publiju… Read more »

The Sunday Gospel: 23rd January

Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Readings of the day

First Reading: Neh 8, 2-4a. 5-6. 8-10
Psalm: 18 (19), 8. 9. 10. 15
Second Reading: 1 Cor 12, 12-30

Gospel: Lk 1, 1-4; 4, 14-21

Since many have undertaken to set down an orderly account of the events that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed on to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word, I too decided, after investigating everything carefully from the very first, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the truth concerning the things about which you have been instructed.

Jesus, filled with the power of the Spirit, returned to Galilee, and a report about him spread through all the surrounding country. He began to teach in their synagogues and was praised by everyone. When he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, he went to the synagogue on the sabbath day, as was his custom… Read more »
