Archbishop never requested postponement of Papal visit

The Archdiocese categorically denies an allegation made by The Shift News website that Archbishop Charles Jude Scicluna requested a postponement of the visit to Malta by His Holiness Pope Francis.

A spokesperson for the Archdiocese said: “Nothing could be further from the truth. The visit had the Archbishop’s full support and it is hugely disappointing that a media outlet relies on anonymous and uninformed sources to erroneously state that the Apostolic Nuncio ‘overruled’ the Archbishop”… Read more »

A new children’s book in Maltese about Blessed Carlo Acutis

Il-Provinċja Franġiskana Maltija ppubblikat ktieb bil-Malti għat-tfal dwar il-beatu żagħżugħ Carlo Acutis. Il-ktieb, li nqaleb għall-Malti minn Francesco Pio Attard, oriġinarjament inkiteb bit-Taljan minn Maria Teresa Antognazza, u fih illustrazzjonijiet ta’ Bruno Dolif.

Fi stqarrija, Attard spjega li din il-pubblikazzjoni tista’ tingħata bħala rigal lit-tfal tal-katekiżmu jew tfal li se jirċievu l-ewwel tqarbina jew il-griżma tal-isqof, “għax tista’ tgħin lit-tfal tagħna jitħabbu mal-ħajja ta’ tifel bħalhom li kien kuraġġjuż biżżejjed li jipprova jħobb ftit iżjed lil Ġesù b’ġesti żgħar imma qawwija fl-istess ħin… Read more »

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

L-Evanġelji li se nibdew nisimgħu f’dan iż-żmien tal-Għid jippruvaw jispjegawlna mhux biss xi tfisser li Ġesù qam mill-mewt imma wkoll xi tfisser il-magħmudija għax aħna, permezz tal-magħmudija dħalna fil-misteru, fir-realtà tal-mewt u l-qawmien ta’ Ġesù mill-imwiet.

Hekk nagħmlu wkoll fis-sagrament tal-qrar, fis-sagrament tal-griżma tal-morda, hekk nagħmlu f’kull quddiesa li niċċelebraw. Aħna minn hawn u ftit ieħor se ngħidu ‘nfakkru l-mewt tiegħek, inħabbru bil-ferħ il-qawmien tiegħek’… Read more »
