God first and foremost – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Parish Church of the Annunciation, Ħal Balzan

“Tobgħod” hi kelma kerha ħafna. Hi kerha fuq fomm kulħadd, imma aktar u aktar tinstema’ kerha fuq fomm Ġesù. Meta naqraw dan il-kliem tiegħu llum fl-Evanġelju (Lq 4:26), niskantaw u ngħidu: qed nisma’ sew? Dan kif Ġesù qed jgħid li trid tobgħod lin-nies tal-familja tiegħek?

Kontradizzjoni?

Dal-kliem jinħass aktar u aktar stramb meta niftakru li Ġesù kien tant jenfasizza l-imħabba. Hi l-karatteristika l-aktar importanti tad-dixxipli tiegħu, tal-komunità li hi l-Knisja… Read more »

All who exalt themselves will be humbled – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

Mass on the 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Parish Church of the Annunciation, Ħal Balzan

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Huma qagħdu għajnejhom fih” (Lq 14:1). Hekk naqraw fl-istorja ta’ meta Ġesù kien mistieden għall-ikla għand wieħed mill-kapijiet tal-Fariżej – ikla ma’ wieħed mill-mexxejja reliġjużi ta’ dak iż-żmien –  f’jum is-Sibt. Imma filwaqt li dawk li kienu hemm qagħdu jinnotaw lilu, hu wkoll qagħad jinnota lilhom u nnota żewġ affarijiet partikulari.

X’innota Ġesù

L-ewwel nett innota kif il-mistednin kienu f’ġirja għall-ewwel post, il-postijiet ta’ quddiem… Read more »

For the glory of God – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Fil-ħajja ta’ Ġesù nsibu diversi mumenti meta l-Fariżej u l-kittieba jkunu f’polemika miegħu jew igergru fuq xi ħaġa. Fl-Evanġelju tal-lum, għandna każ minn dawn, fejn il-Fariżej u l-kittieba qegħdin igergru għaliex id-dixxipli ta’ Ġwanni u d-dixxipli tagħhom isumu u jitolbu, u dawk ta’ Ġesù jieklu u jixorbu (Lq 5:33). Qisu hemm xi ħaġa mhix f’postha, qed jgħidu huma.

X’hemm f’dan l-ilment li qed jagħmlu l-Fariżej u l-kittieba? … Read more »

While Jesus was going through a field of grain on a sabbath, his disciples were picking the heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands, and eating them. Some Pharisees said, “Why are you doing what is unlawful on the sabbath?”

Turning a negative situation into a positive one – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

Inauguration of the extension of the Salesian Oratory

  The Salesian Oratory, Ħad-Dingli

Il-messaġġ tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Din tal-lum hi okkażjoni verament sabiħa għall-Knisja f’Malta u għal Malta. Meta inti tara dawn l-adolexxenti u ż-żgħażagħ li huma impenjati b’mod sħiħ f’dan l-Oratorju, tinduna li hawn qed tinbena b’mod pożittiv ħafna s-soċjetà Maltija u l-Knisja.

L-ewwel nett nirringrazzja ħafna lil dawk kollha li ħadmu għall-estensjoni ta’ dan il-bini u stinkaw biex ikun hawn Oratorju daqshekk sabiħ… Read more »

The soul that wants to see Jesus is learning to speak the language of love – Archbishop

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Anke Erodi t-Tetrarka, titnissel fil-qalb tiegħu kurżità biex jara lil Ġesù (ara Lq 9:9). U għaliex? Għaliex kien sema’ dwar il-fejqan li kien qed jagħmel l-Imgħallem li kien qiegħed ukoll iwassal lill-poplu ta’ Alla f’isem il-Mulej.

Fl-Evanġelju ta’ San Luqa nsibu kemm-il darba riferiment għall-qawwa li kienet toħroġ minn Ġesù, għall-fatt li kien jitkellem bħal bniedem li għandu l-awtorità, għall-qawwa li kellu fuq ix-xjaten, fuq il-mard, fuq l-elementi tan-natura… Read more »
