Embellishment project for Pembroke Parish Church

Il-Komunità Parrokkjali ta’ Pembroke nediet proġett ta’ tisbiħ li se jiżvolġi fis-snin li ġejjin fuq diversi fażijiet. Dan tħabbar waqt Ċelebrazzjoni Ewkaristika li fakkret is-17-il anniversarju mit-twaqqif tal-parroċċa dedikata lil Kristu Rxoxt f’Pembroke. Pembroke sar żona pastorali awtonoma fl-1998 u parroċċa fl-2004.

Ix-xogħol, li jinkludi t-tisbiħ tal-presbiterju fil-Knisja Parrokkjali, se jsir bl-intenzjoni li tiżdied il-funzjonalità u l-kumdità li tixraq fiċ-ċelebrazzjonijiet liturġiċi. Il-Parroċċa spjegat li fix-xogħol li se jsir madwar it-tabernaklu, se jintuża l-irħam u l-bronż u se jinħoloq spazju intimu ta’ adorazzjonu u ġabra personali… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 3rd January

Readings of the day

First Reading: 1 Jn 3, 22 – 4, 6
Psalm: 2, 7-8.10-11

Gospel: Mt 4, 12-17. 23-25

In those days, when Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew to Galilee. He left Nazareth and made his home in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, so that what had been spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: “Land of Zebulun, land of Naphtali, on the road by the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles— the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned.” From that time Jesus began to proclaim, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and curing every disease and every sickness among the people. So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought to him all the sick, those who were afflicted with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, and paralytics, and he cured them. And great crowds followed him from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and from beyond the Jordan… Read more »

The Archbishop to the new acolytes: Draw closer to the Lord because he cares for you in your weakness and poverty

Mass on the Solemnity of the Epiphany and the institution of the Acolyte Ministry

  St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Il-kelma ‘epifanija’ ġejja mill-Grieg u tispjegalna kif f’dan il-jum il-Mulej juri lilu nnifsu lill-ġnus. F’dan il-jum qaddis tal-Epifanija, il-Knisja f’Malta qiegħda tilqa’ tliet żgħażagħ fit-triq tagħhom lejn is-saċerdozju u li llum se jiġu istitwiti ministri akkoliti. Akkoliti huma dawk li f’ċirkustanzi straordinarji għandhom is-setgħa jwasslu t-tqarbin lill-poplu ta’ Alla.

Illum wara l-Evanġelju smajna t-tħabbira sabiħa tal-jum qaddis tal-Għid li dis-sena jaħbat fis-17 ta’ April… Read more »

Pope Francis: Listening with the ear of the heart

Message of His Holiness Pope Francis for the 56th World Day of Social Communications

Dear brothers and sisters,

Last year we reflected on the need to “Come and See” in order to discover reality and be able to recount it beginning with experiencing events and meeting people. Continuing in this vein, I would now like to draw attention to another word , “listen”, which is decisive in the grammar of communication and  a condition for genuine dialogue… Read more »

Pope at Angelus: May Mary inspire harmony in our hearts and world

  The Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, buongiorno! Happy New Year!

Let us begin the new year entrusting it to Mary, the Mother of God. The Gospel of today’s Liturgy speaks of her, taking us back once again to the wonder of the crib. The shepherds hasten toward the stable and what do they find? The text says they find, “Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger” (Lk 2:16)… Read more »

Iż-żgħażagħ tagħna tawna lezzjoni sabiħa llum. Qalulna li biex ikollna l-avventura fil-ħajja, biex insibu t-triq fil-ħajja, biex nimxu wara dawl li ma jgħib qatt; tajjeb inħallu lil Ġesù jkun id-dawl tagħna, Ġesù jkun l-avventura ta’ ħajjitna; Ġesù jkun “it-Triq, il-Veritá u l-Ħajja” (Ġw 14:6).

Walking in the light, testifying to the light – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Dak id-dawl veru li jdawwal kull bniedem…” Dan hu li qrajna fl-Evanġelju skont San Ġwann, proprju l-bidu, il-prologu tal-Evanġelju tiegħu, fejn hu jenfasizza ħafna li Ġesù, li sar bniedem fostna, hu d-dawl, u jagħmel dan f’kuntrast mad-dlam. Għandna dan id-dawl sabiħ li għandu jdawwal lil ħajjitna.

Alla li sar bniedem fostna – dak hu li jiċċelebra San Ġwann f’dan l-Evanġelju li naqrawh dejjem fl-aħħar jum tas-sena… Read more »
