The Almighty has done great things for me – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Bdew jitolbuh ħafna lil Ġesù biex iwarrab minn pajjiżhom”. Dan hu li għamlu n-nies li ġew jaraw din il-ġrajja. Meta semgħu dak li kien ġara, u anke l-istorja drammatika ta’ kif Ġesù lil dan il-bniedem ħelsu mill-ispirti ħżiena, u mbagħad dawn marru fil-qżieqeż u dawn qabżu l-baħar u għerqu, baqgħu miblugħin bil-biża’. U lil Ġesù bdew jitolbuh biex jitlaq, iwarrab.

Il-kontra għamel dan il-bniedem li qabel kien bl-ispirti ħżiena fih, u li Ġesù ħelsu minn dawn l-ispirti ħżiena… Read more »

Pope at Angelus: Jesus asks you to accept him in the daily reality that you live

  The Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, buongiorno!

In today’s liturgy, the Gospel recounts Jesus’ first sermon in his home town, Nazareth. The outcome is bitter: instead of receiving approval, Jesus finds incomprehension and even hostility (cf. Lk 4:21-30). His fellow villagers, rather than a word of truth, wanted miracles and prodigious signs. The Lord does not perform them and they reject him, because they say they already knew him as a child: he is Joseph’s son (cf… Read more »

Psalm: 3:2-3,4-5,6-7

Jesus and his disciples came to the other side of the sea, to the territory of the Gerasenes. When he got out of the boat, at once a man from the tombs who had an unclean spirit met him. The Church must not keep its mouth shut despite not always succeeding in doing Jesus’ will – The Archbishop

Mass on the Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Salesians of Don Bosco Oratory Chapel, Tas-Sliema

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Dis-silta mill-Evanġelju ta’ San Luqa f’kapitlu 4 tibda b’sens kbir ta’ ammirazzjoni għal Ġesù: “Ilkoll laqgħu kliemu u stagħġbu għall-kliem mimli ħlewwa li kien ħiereġ minn fommu” (Lq 4:22). Imma d-diska malajr tinbidel għax lejn tmiem is-silta din l-ammirazzjoni tinbidel f’korla: “Meta semgħu dan fis-sinagoga kulħadd imtela bil-korla; qamu, u ħarġuh ’il barra mill-belt u ħaduh fuq xifer ta’ rdum tal-għolja li fuqha kienet mibnija u riedu jixħtuh minn fuq għal isfel” (Lq 4:28-29)… Read more »

With truth and love – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass on the Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Parish Church of the Annunciation, Ħal Balzan

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Naħseb li indunajtu, fil-ġrajja tal-Evanġelju tal-lum, kif inbidlet l-imġiba tan-nies waqt li qed jisimgħu lil Ġesù. Fil-bidu, naqraw: “ilkoll laqgħu kliemu u stagħġbu għall-kliem mimli ħlewwa li kien ħiereġ minn fommu”. Meta semgħuh, għoġobhom dak li qal, u laqgħuh. Dan fil-bidu. Imma lejn l-aħħar, wara li jkompli jkellimhom, naqraw li “kulħadd imtela bil-korla”.  Qanqal fihom rabja kbira u ħarġuh ’il barra mill-belt bl-iskop li jixtħuh mix-xifer tal-irdum tal-għolja għal isfel… Read more »

Gospel: Luke 4:21-30

Jesus began speaking in the synagogue saying: “Today this scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.” And all spoke highly of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth. He said to them, “Surely you will quote me this proverb, ‘Physician, cure yourself,’ and say, ‘Do here in your native place the things that we heard were done in Capernaum.’”

And he said, “Amen, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own native place… Read more »
