Talba għat-Tqarbina tax-Xewqa

Ġesù, jiena nemmen li Inti tinsab tabilħaqq fis-Sagrament tal-Ewkaristija.
Irrid inħobbok fuq kollox u fuq kulħadd.
Inti taf li nixtieq nirċevik ġewwa fija.
Imma ġaladarba bħalissa ma nistax nilqgħek ġewwa fija sagramentalment,
nitolbok li tiġi fija spiritwalment.
Ejja għandi Ġesù tiegħi, biex jiena niġi għandek… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 18th May

Readings of the day

First Reading: Acts 20, 17-27
Psalm: 67 (68), 10-11.20-21

Gospel: Jn 17, 1-11a

In those days, Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him authority over all people, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him.

And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth by finishing the work that you gave me to do. So now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had in your presence before the world existed. “I have made your name known to those whom you gave me from the world… Read more »

Jesus’ Ascension brings us joy says Pope Francis at Regina Coeli

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Buongiorno!

Today, in Italy and in other countries, we celebrate the Ascension of the Lord. The Gospel passage (Mk 16:15-20) – the conclusion of the Gospel of Mark – presents us the Risen One’s final encounter with the disciples before he ascends to the right hand of the Father. Usually, as we know, farewell scenes are sad… Read more »

First Reading: Acts 19, 1-8
Psalm: 67 (68), 2-3.4-5ac.6-7ab

Gospel: Jn 16, 29-33

In those days, Jesus’ disciples said, “Yes, now you are speaking plainly, not in any figure of speech! Now we know that you know all things, and do not need to have anyone question you; by this we believe that you came from God.” Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe? The hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each one to his home, and you will leave me alone… Read more »

He fills us with hope – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass on the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord

The Parish Church of the Annunciation, Ħal Balzan

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Il-ġrajja tat-Tlugħ fis-Sema tal-Mulej hi ġrajja unika li aħna niċċelebrawha bil-ferħ, għax tfisser ħafna għalina lkoll.

Missjoni kbira

Jekk immorru lura għal dakinhar, kif smajna fl-Evanġelju u wkoll kif rakkontat fl-Atti tal-Appostli, ninnutaw li qabel ma tela’ s-sema, lill-appostli Ġesù tahom missjoni kbira ħafna. Hawn jgħid: “Morru fid-dinja kollha…”; mela mhux biex imorru f’xi belt, jew raħal, jew pajjiż, imma fid-dinja kollha… Read more »

We are one with Jesus – The Archbishop

Mass on the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord

The Chapel of Our Lady of Miracles, Ħal Lija

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Il-qari tal-lum jitkellem fuq it-tlugħ tal-Mulej imma ma jitkellimx fuq it-tluq tiegħu. It-tlugħ tal-Mulej hija l-glorja ta’ Kristu Rxoxt. Fir-rakkont li għandna mill-kitbiet tal-Evanġelista San Luqa, nifhmu li biex ikun hemm xhieda tal-qawmien tiegħu mill-imwiet, għal 40 jum sħaħ il-Mulej deher lid-dixxipli tiegħu jqawwihom fil-fidi li kienet dgħajfa u jagħmel minnhom xhieda tal-qawmien tiegħu mill-imwiet u tal-glorja tiegħu. Imma fl-istess ħin qed jippreparahom biex ikunu huma li jkomplu l-missjoni tiegħu fuq l-art… Read more »

The Sunday Gospel: 16th May

Seventh Sunday of Easter
The Ascension of the Lord – Solemnity

First Reading: Acts 1, 1-11
Psalm: 46(47), 2-3,6-7,8-9
Second Reading: Eph 4, 1-13

Gospel: Mk 16, 15-20

In those days, Jesus said to the Eleven, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation. The one who believes and is baptised will be saved; but the one who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: by using my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes in their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and proclaimed the good news everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that accompanied it.  Read more »
