Talba għat-Tqarbina tax-Xewqa

Ġesù, jiena nemmen li Inti tinsab tabilħaqq fis-Sagrament tal-Ewkaristija.
Irrid inħobbok fuq kollox u fuq kulħadd.
Inti taf li nixtieq nirċevik ġewwa fija.
Imma ġaladarba bħalissa ma nistax nilqgħek ġewwa fija sagramentalment,
nitolbok li tiġi fija spiritwalment.
Ejja għandi Ġesù tiegħi, biex jiena niġi għandek… Read more »

The Archbishop asks: Do we get carried away in our anger?

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Il-kliem ta’ Ġesù li smajna llum huwa kliem iebes għax min jaf kemm fir-rabja ngħidu affarijiet lil xulxin. ‘Ġifa’, ‘iblah’ (Mt 5:22); għalina dawn il-kliem huma soft. Meta nirrabjaw għal xulxin nużaw kliem ħafna iżjed avventuruż u l-immaġinazzjoni hi bla qies. Kultant nitfgħu xi dagħwa ’l hawn u ’l hemm għall-effett. Donnu meta nkunu rrabjati għal xulxin, qisna l-ħin kollu bit-trikki trakki… Read more »

Pope: Prayer, life, faith keep flame of Christian life alight

Dear brothers and sisters, good morning!

In this penultimate catechesis on prayer we are going to speak about perseverance in praying. It is an invitation, indeed a command that comes to us from Sacred Scripture. The spiritual journey of the Russian pilgrim begins when he comes across a phrase of Saint Paul in the First Letter to the Thessalonians: “Pray constantly, always and for everything give thanks” (5:17-18)… Read more »

Psalm: 84 (85), 9ab-10.11-12.13-14

Gospel: Mt 5, 20-26

In those days, Jesus told his disciples: “For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. You have heard that it was said to those of ancient times, “You shall not murder’; and “whoever murders shall be liable to judgement.’ But I say to you that if you are angry with a brother or sister, you will be liable to judgment; and if you insult a brother or sister, you will be liable to the council; and if you say, “You fool,’ you will be liable to the hell of fire.

So when you are offering your gift at the altar, if you remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother or sister, and then come and offer your gift.  … Read more »

First Reading: 2 Cor 3, 4-11
Psalm: 98 (99), 5.6.7.8.9

Gospel: Mt 5, 17-19

In those days, Jesus told his disciples: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished.

Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
