Beloved sons and daughters – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass on the feast of the Baptism of the Lord

The Parish Church of the Annunciation, Ħal Balzan

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

L-ilma jsaffi, inaddaf u jagħti l-ħajja. Kien għalhekk li Ġwanni l-Battista kien jgħammed lin-nies bl-ilma, fix-xmara Ġordan. Kienu jiġu n-nies għandu u hu jgħammidhom bl-ilma biex ifisser il-ħajja ġdida li daħlu għaliha wara li jistqarru dnubiethom. Meta resqu għall-Magħmudija, għamlu dan biex juru dak li jsemmi l-Profeta Iżaija fl-Ewwel Qari: “Ħa jħalli triqtu l-midneb, u l-bniedem il-ħażin fehmietu: ħa jerġa’ lura għand il-Mulej u jħenn għalih, għand Alla tagħna għax hu jaħfer ħafna.”

L-ilma

Kienet ħaġa stramba li fil-kju ma’ dawn in-nies li marru biex jitgħammdu kien hemm ukoll Ġesù… Read more »

Disapproval of action on medical consultant

Statement by the Secretariat for Catholic Education

The Secretariat for Catholic Education and the Church Schools Association are dismayed by the reports that Dr Kenneth Grech has been redeployed. Since the start of the pandemic, Dr Grech, in his official capacity and along with his colleagues, has given very valid advice when considering whether or not to physically welcome students, educators, and staff in schools. Dr Grech has been rendering a sterling service as coordinator of the COVID-19 team and always sought to safeguard public health… Read more »

Ministries of lector and acolyte to be open to women

With a Motu proprio released on Monday, Pope Francis established that from now on the ministries of Lector and Acolyte are to be open to women, in a stable and institutionalized form through a specific mandate.

There is nothing new about women proclaiming the Word of God during liturgical celebrations or carrying out a service at the altar as altar servers or as Eucharistic ministers… Read more »

Pope: World needs unity, fraternity to overcome current crisis

The Pope is inviting everyone to rediscover our common unity, to be close to those who suffer, to feel like brothers and sisters in order to overcome together the global crisis caused by the pandemic.

At the beginning of the interview with Canale 5, aired Sunday evening, Pope Francis reiterates that “after a crisis we are never as before, ever. We either emerge better or we come out worse.” According to the Pope, “one must review everything.” The great values which are always there in life must be translated into our life lived in the moment… Read more »

Immersed in God – The Archbishop

Mass on the feast of the Baptism of the Lord

The Church of St Gregory, Żejtun

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

L-Evanġelju tal-lum jibda b’kelma qawwija ta’ Ġwanni l-Battista: “Ġej warajja min hu aqwa minni, li jien ma jistħoqqlix nitbaxxa quddiemu u nħoll il-qfieli tal-qorq tiegħu. Jiena għammidtkom bl-ilma, iżda huwa jgħammidkom bl-Ispirtu s-Santu” (Mark 1:7-8).

L-ewwel nett ejjew nifhmu xi tfisser il-kelma ‘magħmudija’. Fil-Grieg, li bih inkiteb il-Evanġelju, hemm il-kelma ‘baptizzo’ li tiffser li tgħaddas xi ħaġa jew lil xi ħadd… Read more »

“I was amazed, because they are a people who are so disciplined in democracy,” said Pope Francis… Read more »
