A heart open to his mercy – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Fil-bidu tal-quddiesa dejjem hemm talba li fiha nitolbu lil Alla jaħfrilna. Waħda mit-talbiet hi dik li għedna llum, fejn ngħidu “jien dnibt ħafna bil-ħsieb, bil-kliem, bil-għemil u billi ħallejt dmirijieti”, u nżidu “ħtija tiegħi, ħtija tiegħi, bl-akbar ħtija tiegħi…” Din mhix talba li ngħidu għall-kirjanza, imma talba li ngħiduha bis-sinċerità tal-qalb, għax nemmnu li aħna lkoll midinbin, u nersqu lejn il-Mulej bit-talba li hu jaħfrilna dnubietna, isalvana u jgħinna biex ngħixu dejjem aktar kif irid hu… Read more »

Good taste of life – The Archbishop

Mass on the 450th anniversary of the founding of the first Dominican parish in Valletta

The Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Safe Haven and St Dominic

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

“Kbir hu f’nofsok il-qaddis ta’ Iżrael” (Iż 12:6). Fil-festa taż-żjara ta’ Sidtna Marija lil Eliżabetta, li hija wkoll it-titular ta’ din il-parroċċa tal-Porto Salvo, dan il-kliem tas-Salm joqgħod tassew mhux biss għal Marija għaliex hi li qed iġġorr lil Ġesù f’ġufha, imma dan il-kliem għandu jgħodd u jgħodd għal kull komunità Nisranija. Niftakru fil-kelma ta’ Ġesù stess: “Fejn tnejn jew tlieta jinġabru f’ismi, hemm jien inkun f’nofshom” (Mt 18:20)… Read more »

When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” But when he heard this, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Go and learn what this means, “I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.”  Read more »

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

F’diversi paroċċi madwar il-gżejjer tagħna ssib kwadru ta’ Nazju Falzon. Dan għaliex il-kawża tiegħu, hi kawża antika biex isir beatu, u mbagħad qaddis. Wieħed mill-kwadri jinsab fil-knisja ta’ Ħal Lija u niftakar lill-anzjani jgħiduli li meta San Ġorġ Preca kien imur Ħal Lija kien dejjem jistaqsihom fejn qiegħed il-kwadru ta’ Nazju Falzon biex jinġabar quddiemu jitlob bl-interċessjoni ta’ Nazju. The Gospel of the day: 1st July

Readings of the day

First Reading: Gen 22, 1-19
Psalm: 116 (117), 1-2.3-4.5-6.8-9

Gospel: Mt 9, 1-8

In those days, Jesus got into a boat, crossed the sea and came to his own town. And just then some people were carrying a paralyzed man lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.”

Then some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man is blaspheming.” But Jesus, perceiving their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say, “Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, “Stand up and walk’? But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he then said to the paralytic—”Stand up, take your bed and go to your home.” And he stood up and went to his home.

When the crowds saw it, they were filled with awe, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to human beings.
