A person in the womb – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass on the feast of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

F’diversi ġrajjiet fl-Evanġelju tolqotna kif Marija hi dejjem fis-skiet u fil-kwiet. Meta dehrilha l-anġlu Gabrijel, u hi aċċettat li ssir omm Alla, hemm ċerta serenità li toħroġ mir-rakkont; anke meta naraw lil Marija taħt is-salib. L-Evanġelju jgħid li hi kienet “tgħożż f’qalbha” dak li qed tgħix. Hemm ċertu kwiet, skiet.

Lil Marija nsibuha differenti fir-rakkont tal-lum fejn narawha mgħaġġla… Read more »

CCEE joins Pope Francis for peace and stability in Lebanon

Accepting the invitation of Pope Francis to pray for Lebanon, the CCEE Presidency, on behalf of the Bishops throughout the continent, joins “our brothers and sisters of faith and humanity in Lebanon” and invokes the gift of peace and stability together with a renewed commitment to support the Country of the Cedar.

Making their own “the requests of the Assembly of Patriarchs and Catholic Bishops of that noble but distressed country”, the Bishops of Europe appeal “to the conscience of nations and their leaders” so that “the world does not forget the tragedy and does not turn a deaf ear to the cries of the poor and suffering… Read more »

An inspirational gift of self – The Archbishop

Mass during which Sr Lorna Cassar made her temporary profession with the Qaddejja taċ-Ċenaklu

  Id-Dar tal-Kleru, Birkirkara

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Imqanqla mill-Ispirtu s-Santu, Sidtna Marija, malli tisma’ li l-qariba tagħha Santa Eliżabetta tinsab fis-sitt xahar tat-tqala tagħha, għax hekk qalilha l-Anġlu Gabrijel, “qamet u marret tħaffef lejn l-għoljiet” (Lq 1:39). Il-Knisja llum titlob għall-Poplu ta’ Alla d-don tad-doċilità, lejn l-ispirazzjonijiet tal-Mulej, lejn il-vuċi tal-Ispirtu s-Santu. F’dan ir-rakkont minn San Luqa, l-Ispirtu s-Santu huwa protogonista. “Malli Eliżabetta semgħet lil Marija ssellmilha, it-tarbija qabżet fil-ġuf tagħha u Eliżabetta mtliet bl-Ispirtu s-Santu” (Lq 1:41)… Read more »

We need to provide the needed support to women in crisis pregnancy – The Archbishop

Mass on the Solemnity of The Most Holy Trinity

The Chapel of Our Lady of Miracles, Ħal Lija

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

L-isem huwa xi ħaġa tassew għażiża. Il-ġenituri, huma u jippreparaw biex ikolhom tarbija, jagħtu ftit ħsieb ukoll dwar x’se jsemmu lit-tarbija. Illum Ġesù jgħidilna x’jismu Alla. Meta lid-dixxipli jibgħathom jagħmlu dixxipli oħra u jgħammduhom, jgħidilhom: “Għammduhom fl-isem tal-Missier u tal-Iben u tal-Ispirtu s-Santu” (Mt 28:19). F’isem Alla! L-isem li jagħtina ta’ Alla huwa l-Missier u l-Iben u l-Ispirtu s-Santu. Fil-fatt aħna nitgħallmu miċ-ċokon nagħmlu kollox fl-isem ta’ Alla: fl-isem tal-Missier u tal-Iben u tal-Ispirtu s-Santu… Read more »

The Holy Trinity: a vision for our life – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass on the eve of the Solemnity of The Most Holy Trinity

The Parish Church of the Annunciation, Ħal Balzan

Meta aħna niċċelebraw is-solennità tat-Trinita Qaddisa, qed nagħrfu lil Alla li hu wieħed fi tliet persuni – il-Missier, l-Iben u l-Ispirtu s-Santu. Aħna nispjegaw dan bħala “misteru tal-fidi”. Issa kultant li jiġri  hu dan: li meta ħafna minna nisimgħu l-kelma “misteru”, għalina jfisser li hi ħaġa li ma tistax tifhimha. U għalhekk kultant diversi nies, ir-reazzjoni tagħhom hi: inutli, jekk ma nistax nifhem, ma nista nifhem, hu misteru… Read more »

The seamless garment of life

Message by Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Galea-Curmi

Fifty years ago, journalist Eileen Egan, borrowing from the biblical imagery of John 19:23, reportedly wrote: “the protection of life is a seamless garment. You can’t protect some life and not others.

The seamless garment of life is a metaphor for the reality that all of us share one life. It is an understanding that all of life is sacred, from womb to tomb, in the unborn and the dying, in the migrant at the risk of drowning and in the person who is a victim of domestic abuse, in the prisoner on death row and the mother in a coma… Read more »
