Mass readings and songs

Celebrant: Fr Brendan Gatt
Music: The New Victorians

♫ Blessed Be Your Name ♫

Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name

Blessed Be Your name
When I’m found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name

Every blessing You pour out, I’ll
Turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name
When the sun’s shining down on me
When the world’s ‘all as it should be’
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there’s pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

Every blessing You pour out I’ll
Turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name, oh
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name

The joy no one can take away from us – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass offered for all those who have lost hope, so that the Lord may give them happiness and be the light in moments of darkness

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa, the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Awżiljarju Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Il-ferħ tagħkom ħadd ma jeħodhulkom”. Dan il-kliem li smajna lil Ġesù jgħid fl-Evanġelju llum jinstema’ stramb meta jgħidu proprju fl-aħħar ċena, ftit mumenti qabel ma se jgħaddi mill-passjoni kiefra u l-mewt tiegħu. Qisu mhux floku li titkellem fuq il-ferħ meta hu kien jaf minn xiex se jgħaddi.

Imma Ġesù ried dejjem jitkellem ċar mal-appostli. Filwaqt li jippreparahom għal dik l-esperjenza kiefra li kien se jgħaddi minnha, u allura huma tant iħossuha, jippreparahom ukoll għal wara… Read more »

Rita, chosen by the Lord to be an image of his suffering – The Archbishop

Mass on the beginning of the pastoral work of Fr Alex Cauchi OSA as parish priest of St Augustine Parish

The Parish Church of St Augustine, Valletta

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles J. Scicluna

Rita kellha ħajja iebsa. Nistgħu ngħidu li l-imħabba tagħha miċ-ċokon u b’mod speċjali meta kienet għarusa u omm irżina kienet imdawra b’ħafna vjolenza. L-imħabba tagħha kienet bħal warda mdawra b’ħafna xewk.

L-ikonografija jew ix-xbihat li għandna ta’ Santa Rita jfakkruna li l-Mulej fiċ-ċirkustanzi ta’ ħajjitha għażilha biex tkun xebh tat-tbatija tiegħu. Imma wkoll li bl-imħabba tagħha tegħleb it-tbatija u tittrasformaha… Read more »
