San Bonifaċju kien missjunarju kbir fis-seklu 8 fl-Ewropa ċentrali, speċjalment f’dik li llum tissejjaħ il-Ġermanja. Twieled l-Ingilterra u meta kien għadu żgħir daħal fil-ħajja monastika. Kemm hi ħaġa f’waqtha li llum, meta qed niċċelebraw it-tifkira ta’ San Karlu Lwanga u sħabu martri tal-Uganda, nisimgħu lil Ġesù jgħid: “Alla mhux tal-mejtin imma tal-ħajjin”.
