“Fratelli tutti”: summary of Pope Francis’s social encyclical

World Youth Day Opening Ceremony, 24 January 2019  (Vatican Media)

What are the great ideals but also the tangible ways to advance for those who wish to build a more just and fraternal world in their ordinary relationships, in social life, politics and institutions? This is mainly the question that “Fratelli tutti” is intended to answer: the Pope describes it as a “Social Encyclical” (6) which borrows the title of the “Admonitions” of Saint Francis of Assisi, who used these words to “address his brothers and sisters and proposed to them a way of life marked by the flavour of the Gospel” (1)… Read more »

Love is not a possession but a gift – The Archbishop

Mass on the 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Chapel of Our Lady of Providence, Siġġiewi

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

“Kien hemm wieħed sid ta’ għalqa u ħawwilha bid-dwieli” (Mt 21:33). Id-dielja fl-għanja tal-profeta hija l-proġett ta’ mħabba li Alla għandu għall-poplu tiegħu. Fil-fatt fil-kitba tal-profeta Iżaija li smajna fl-Ewwel Qari llum, wieħed jinnota kemm-il darba l-Mulej jissejjaħ ‘il-maħbub’ u l-għanja tad-dielja hija l-għanja tal-imħabba tiegħu. “Ħa ngħanni lill-Maħbub tiegħi l-għanja ta’ mħabbtu għall-għalqa tad-dwieli tiegħu. Il-maħbub tiegħi kellu għalqa tad-dwieli fuq għolja għammiela” (Iż 5:1)… Read more »

Three roses dedicated to the Immaculate Conception – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass on the installation of three new canons of Cospicua Parish

Collegiate Parish Church of the Immaculate Conception, Cospicua

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Qed niċċelebraw illum bil-ferħ il-pussess ta’ tliet kanonċi ġodda ta’ din il-Kolleġġjata għażiża tal-Immakulata Kunċizzjoni. Intom hawnhekk għandkom il-grazzja li tqimu lil Marija Ommna li, kif nafu, kellha titlu speċjali tassew għal qalbha: dak ta’ “qaddejja tal-Mulej”. “Hawn jien il-qaddejja tal-Mulej” tgħid lill-anġlu Gabrijel; “xeħet għajnejh fuq iċ-ċokon tal-qaddejja tiegħu” tgħid fil-Kantiku tagħha. It-titlu ta’ “qaddejja” hu l-isbaħ titlu għaliha.

Imma għal Marija dan ma kienx biss titlu; kien programm ta’ ħajja… Read more »

Praying the rosary during the month of October

Hija x-xewqa tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna li matul ix-xahar ta’ Ottubru jingħad kuljum ir-rużarju quddiem Ġesù Sagramentat espost fil-knejjes fejn tinżamm l-Ewkaristija u wara tingħata l-Barka Sagramentali.

Naturalment, hu importanti li f’dan ukoll kulħadd isegwi l-miżuri preżenti għall-ħarsien tal-ħajja u tas-saħħa ta’ kulħadd, b’mod partikulari s-sanitisation, id-distanza soċjali u l-użu tal-maskra jew visor.

Tkun ħaġa sabiħa wkoll li matul dan ix-xahar tingħad, b’ħeġġa u devozzjoni, it-talba tar-rużarju fil-familja… Read more »
