  • Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna led a concelebration in remembrance of the four victims of Sette Giugno uprisings at the Chapel of the Addolorata Cemetery, Paola. Also present were the Bishop of Gozo Mario Grech and Archbishop Emeritus Paul Cremona OP.

    In his homily, the Archbishop recalled the suffering and the tragedy of our ancestors a hundred years ago in the Sette Giugno riots and emphasized that “today we are not celebrating but rather it is our duty to remember; for it is our duty not to forget even because certain conditions that led to the events in Valletta on the 7th and 8th June 1919, can be repeated today.” He underlined that a century ago the Maltese were faced with the problems of the cost of living, of rents and hunger and the wide gulf that existed between the Maltese who had plenty and the many who had little…
