The value of life

  • In his Christmas message, Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna recalled how the birth of the child of Betlehem teaches us to cherish life from conception. He emphasised that Christmas also reminds us that life has a value that is priceless.

    On the 200 anniversary of the hymn Silent Night, the Archbishop said that the child of Betlehem also encourages us to pause and reflect on the fundamental questions of life, questions “put by humankind, in every culture and every age” about where are we coming from and where are we going.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2019

  • As of today, Friday, 18th January 2019, Christians around the world are encouraged to unite to celebrate the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which ends on Friday, 25th January 2019. During this week, members of different Christian Churches meet for ecumenical prayer and this year’s theme is “Justice, and only justice, you shall pursue” (Deut. 16:20).

Pope: ‘Kenya attack senseless act of violence’

  • Describing the attack on Nairobi’s DusitD2 Hotel complex in which at least 21 people were killed as a “senseless act of violence” Pope Francis has sent a telegramme assuring all those who are affected by the tragedy of his spiritual closeness.

Vatican releases details on protection of minors meeting

  • The Director ad interim of the Holy See Press Office, Alessandro Gisotti, on Wednesday provided journalists with further information regarding “The protection of minors in the Church” Meeting, to be held in the Vatican from 21 to 24 February 2019.
