Prayer to St Joseph by St Pope John Paul II

  • Today, 19th March, feast of St Joseph, we offer up this prayer:
    • Saint Joseph, with you, for you,
      we bless the Lord.
He chose you among all men
to be the chaste spouse of Mary,
the one who would remain at the threshold of the mystery
      of her divine maternity,
and who, after her, would accept it in faith
as the work of the Holy Spirit…

The Gospel of the day: 19th March

  • Saint Joseph, Husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Solemnity

    Saint Matthew 1:16.18-21.24a

Jacob was the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Of her was born Jesus who is called the Christ. Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found with child through the Holy Spirit…

Pope at Angelus: To know Jesus, one must gaze upon the Cross

  • Pope Francis’ remarks at Sunday’s Angelus focused on the Gospel of the day, which tells how a group of Greek pilgrims in Jerusalem wanted “to see Jesus.” The Lord’s response to these religious minded Greeks is “surprising”, the Pope said, but ultimately reveals a deeper truth than a simple yes or no answer. Jesus answers their desire by pointing to His imminent Passion and Death: “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.”

To know Jesus, look at the Cross

“One who wishes to know Jesus must gaze upon the Cross, where His glory is revealed,” Pope Francis said…

The Sunday Gospel: 18th March

  • The Fifth Sunday of Lent

    Saint John 12:20-33

Now there were some Greeks among those who had come up to worship at the feast. They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, “Sir, we would like to see Jesus.” Philip went and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus…

The Gospel of the day: 17th March

  • Saint John 7:40-53

Some in the crowd who heard these words of Jesus said, “This is truly the Prophet.” Others said, “This is the Messiah.” But others said, “The Messiah will not come from Galilee, will he? Does not scripture say that the Messiah will be of David’s family and come from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?”

So a division occurred in the crowd because of him…

The Gospel of the day: 16th March

  • Saint John 7:1-2.10.25-30

Jesus moved about within Galilee; but he did not wish to travel in Judea, because the Jews were trying to kill him. But the Jewish feast of Tabernacles was near. But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, he himself also went up, not openly but, as it were, in secret.

So some of the inhabitants of Jerusalem said, “Is he not the one they are trying to kill? And look, he is speaking openly and they say nothing to him…

Pope Francis on migration: We need concrete commitments to free the slaves of today

Mgr Alfred Vella appointed as the reference person for refugees in the Mediterranean

  • “Il-kundizjonijiet li jgħixu fihom miljuni ta’ migranti u refuġjati huma diżumani. Min hu mġiegħel iħalli pajjiżu ħafna drabi hu vittma ta’ inganni, vjolenza u abbużi ta’ kull xorta. Il-pajjiżi jridu jagħtu tweġibiet aktar konkreti dwar kif nistgħu negħlbu l-isfidi tal-migranti.” Hekk qal il-Papa Franġisku waqt il-laqgħa mal-membri tal-Kummissjoni Internazzjonali Kattolika għall-Migrazzjoni.

Il-Papa saħaq li l-Mulej “kien bagħat lil Mosè għand il-faragħun biex jikkonvinċih jeħles lill-poplu tiegħu…
