Five young men to be ordained Deacons

  • Three seminarians and two Franciscan friars are going to be ordained deacons by Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna, during a celebration of Mass on Friday 28th October 2016, at 6 p.m., at St. John’s Co‑Cathedral, Valletta.

Courtesy visit by the new Commissioner for Refugees

  • On Tuesday 25th October 2016, Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna received the new Commissioner for refugees Dr Martine Cassar for a courtesy vist at the Archbishop’s Curia, Floriana. Mgr Alfred Vella, Director of the Malta Emigrants Commission was also present for this cordial meeting.

Vatican issues new document on Christian burial and cremation

  • The Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith on Tuesday published a new instruction on the burial of the dead and on the conservation of the ashes in cases of cremation.

Pope: ‘God calls us to be merciful and good, not rigid’
