MESSAGE OF REPENTANCE AND SORROW BY THE MALTESE BISHOPS

Recently, His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, sent a letter to the Church in Ireland, regarding the tragic incidents involving the sexual abuse of minors.  In his letter, he made reference to the horror surrounding these crimes.  He referred to them as “criminal and sinful acts”.  Much to the shame of the Church, these crimes are more horrifying when they are perpetrated by members of the clergy.  … Read more »

FR. CANTALAMESSA CLARIFIES HIS REFERENCE TO JEWS

The preacher of the Pontifical Household is expressing regret if Jewish sensibilities were offended by his Good Friday sermon given in the presence of Benedict XVI. He says his intention was a “friendly one.” Father Raniero Cantalamessa, during the liturgy of the Lord’s Passion, read a passage from a letter he had received from a Jewish friend. The letter’s author stated that he saw in recent media attacks of the Pope and the Church something reminiscent of the “more shameful aspects of anti-Semitism.”

FINAL TOUCHES TO WELCOME AND DEPARTURE CEREMONIES AT THE MALTA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

On Wednesday, 7th April, 2010, details were announced regarding the arrival and departure ceremonies of Pope Benedict XVI in Malta during a press conference held at the Malta International Airport (MIA).

World Youth Day Celebrations

On Sunday, 28th March, 2010, the Archdiocese of Malta joined  the rest of the Catholic world to celebrate World Youth Day. The celebrations started off with a bike pilgrimage from the Parishes of Zabbar to Zejtun. AWorld Youth Day replica of the Cross and Icon, were transported during the pilgrimage. Being the year dedicated to the priesthood, a number of workshops were organised, giving youths the opportunity to meet with priests who work in fields related to youth, parishes and schools amongst others… Read more »

EXHIBITION ABOUT THE POPES

On Monday, 5th April, 2010, Archbishop Paul Cremona OP together with Mgr. Tommaso Caputo, Apostolic Nuncio to Malta, attended the inauguration of an exhibition themed: ‘From Benedict to Benedict’ at Pardo Hall, Ministry of Foreign Affaris, Valletta.
