Pope Benedict XVI in the UK
The Pope’s visit to Britain will not be affected by a leaked memo which appeared to mock the Catholic Church, the Vatican has said.
The Foreign Office has apologised over the paper resulting from a “brainstorm” which said the Pope could bless a gay marriage or open an abortion clinic.
UK newspaper reports have quoted Vatican sources as saying the September visit could now be in doubt… Read more »
On Sunday, 25th April, 2010, Archbishop Paul Cremona OP visited the Puttinu Cares fund-raising marathon at the Marsa sports grounds. A total of €387,525 were raised after three days of sports activities. The amount raised will fund premises in London for young cancer patients and their families.

Pope in Cyprus
Officials at the embassy of Cyprus before the Holy See are affirming the “historic importance” of Benedict XVI’s visit to the island, scheduled for June 4-6.

On Friday, 23 April, 2010, Archbishop Paul Cremona OP led the Pilgrimage with the Ta’ Pinu titular painting to its sanctuary in Gozo. The Basilica of Ta’ Pinu, being a Marian Sanctuary has been given the Goldren Rose by Pope Benedict XVI himself at the Floriana Granaries on Sunday 18th April, 2010.

“The bishop of Augsburg, Mgr. Walter Mixa, handed in his resignation. This was confirmed today by the news office of the diocese, in a release. “On Wednesday, mgr. Mixa asked, in a letter, to resign from his post. The public discussion of the last few weeks about him heavily affected the priests and the congregation of the diocese”.
