This summer’s young protagonists have officially started the season with “Check-in”, in Paceville. Over one thousand young people are, over the coming two months, making unique experiences of faith either through voluntary work in Malta and abroad, or the World Youth Day pilgrimage in Madrid.
The weekend’s celebration began with the Archbishop Paul Cremona’s mandate on Saturday night, at St Julian’s Parish. Later the Archbishop himself and the young people walked into Paceville to visit various entertainment venues. The main events of the night were the Christian Music Relay at Hard Rock Cafe, the nightlong adoration at the Millenium Chapel and the viewing of the specially-produced video on the Plush megascreen.
Many of the young people then spent the night in the the purposely-set sleeping area, within the Millenium Chapel. On Sunday Morning, Apostolic Nuncio Mgr Tommaso Caputo presided over the closing Mass at Our Lady of Counsel church.
“Check-in” was organised with the collaboration of more than 20 youth communites and co-ordinated by the Youth Commission within the Church (KDŻ).
