Did you ever think of going to poorer countries as a volunteer? Many spend their summer holidays in countries such as Africa, Ethiopia, Brazil, where it is largely known that a large percentage of the people live well under the poverty line. But what about Malta? Does poverty exist on Malta? The answer is yes, it does. There are those who have no adequate housing, no proper clothing. According to statistics, 15% of the population in Malta live below the poverty line. What are we doing to tackle this issue?
KDZ has created an opportunity for young people to voice their opinions. Members of parliament will be present to discuss the issue as well as Church authorities. Several workshops have been prepared by youths themselves. How can we stop poverty in Malta?
When did poverty begin? Is it natural? NO. Man created poverty and so man can eliminate poverty. But what is Malta doing to solve this problem when there’s no dialogue? This year Malta decided to stand up together with millions of other people in the world to help make poverty history remembering the International Day of Poverty. The event, Y Standup?, will be held on Saturday, 24th October at Attard Parish Centre. Registrations will be open from 9am. The activity is scheduled to start at 9.30am and will end at 1pm with refreshments.
But does it stop there? No. KDZ will ask the youths to take on an oath to pass on the message by handing out wristbands to others creating a multiplying effect throughout Malta. Let’s take the floor when and where it matters to be the change!
