Tomorrow, Sunday 3rd May 2020, is the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. On this occasion, Archbishop Charles Scicluna will be celebrating Mass from the Chapel at the Vocations Centre at the Archbishop’s Seminary in Tal-Virtù. Mass in Maltese will be broadcast at 9:30am, and Mass in English will be at 6:30pm, both on TVM2 and on Church.mt. This evening at 7pm, a seminarian who is receiving his formation at the Archbishop’s Seminary will be participating in a Mass for youth which will be broadcast on Church.mt and on the official Facebook page and YouTube channel of the Archdiocese of Malta.

For this day, the Seminary Vocations Centre published a promotional clip entitled ‘Rooted’. This short clip aims to portray a young person’s initial fear to come to terms with his vocation, which, as a seed, is then transformed and flourishes into something new through faith and formation.

In his message on the World Day of Vocations 2020, Pope Francis said that, as a Church, we are responsible for praying for more priestly vocations. The Pope invited Catholics to pray that God touches “the hearts of the faithful and enables them to discover with gratitude God’s call in their lives, to find courage to say ‘yes’ to God, to overcome all weariness through faith in Christ, and to make of their lives a song of praise for God, for their brothers and sisters, and for the whole world.”

The Seminary Vocations Centre accompanies adolescents and youth in their journey to become aware of God’s personal call for them. The Centre aims to help youth discern the life they are called for, be it married life, or a committed lay life or the priestly or religious life. Recently, the Centre launched a website www.seminaryvocationscentre.mt which will be hosting blogs by young men who found their calling in life through the work carried out by the Vocations Centre.

During this particular time, the Centre is also providing web conferences on the Facebook page of the Vocations Centre: SeminaryVocationsCentre, aimed at adolescents and youth aged 12 years and over. For more information one may contact the directot of the Vocations Centre, Fr Stephen Magro on 79964557, by email [email protected] or on www.seminaryvocationscentre.mt.

Catholics are invited to pray to the Lord to help youth discover God’s plan of love for their life.
