Wednesday 27 June – young volunteers received the mandate by Archbishop Paul Cremona OP, during the annual Volunteers Send-Off ceremony, just before they start their summer projects. The evening was themed after the scriptural verse “You did it to me” (Matthew 25, 40), and participants had the opportunity to speak to people who had witnessed the work of volunteers.
Archbishop Cremona also blessed symbolic tokens and presented every volunteer with one of them as a reminder of his mandate. Representatives of the volunteers together with the Archbishop, later lighted a fire to mark the common spirit of the volunteers.
This edition of the Volunteers Send-Off was organized by Viva s-Sajf tat-Tfal with the co-ordination of the Commission for Young People within the Church.
