On Monday 24th June 2013, the Prime Minister the Hon. Joseph Muscat had a private audience with His Holiness Pope Francis. He met the Maltese delegation which included the Prime Minister and Mrs. Michelle Muscat and their daughters, the Hon. George Vella, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Mrs. Vella, and the Hon. Owen Bonnici, Parliamentary Secretary for Justice, and Mrs. Bonnici.
His Holiness Pope Francis and the Prime Minister exchanged gifts between them.
During their visit at the Vatican the Prime Minister, and his delegation held talks with the Holy See’s Secretary of State, His Eminence Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone.
