For the sixth consecutive year, the Pastoral Formation Institute of the Church in Malta is organizing several courses with the aim of reinforcing the identity of the members of the Catholic community. This is done by offering opportunities for permanent formation and spiritual experiences as well as promoting professional formation of pastoral operators to aid them in their ministries and pastoral work; it also facilitates dialogue with Maltese society.

In the light of the above above, during the forthcoming academic year, which begins in October, the Pastoral Formation Institute will organize, sustain and offer its collaboration in 15 different courses, among these a new course in theology and pastoral aspects of the family.  These courses will prepare pastoral operators to provide a pastoral service in various sectors such as adolescents and youths, the family, spiritual direction and leadership skills.  Other courses include those in missiology, evangelization, social teaching of teh church, liturgy and spirituality. There will also be on going formation, through seminars, of those persons who provide their services in the Djakonija Ministry as well as on going formation for priests.

The IFP courses are all accredited by the Malta Qualifications Council.  Through its structure, the IFP will be in a position to offer a service to all agencies within the church in order that the courses will all be civilly recognized.

During the academic year 2010/2011, 160 persons successfully concluded several courses organized by the IFP.  Since its inception in July 2005, more than 550 persons have recieved formation through courses organized by this Institute.
