On Saturday 29th May, 2010, the Secretariat for Parish Life and Activities together with Archbishop Paul Cremona OP, organised a Formation Seminar for the moderators of the Parish Pastoral Council hailing from seventy parishes in Malta. The seminar was held at the Archbishop’s residence in Attard.
During this seminar, the Secretariat concentrated mainly upon the important work which is being done by the Parish Pastoral Council and its relevance with respect to the pastoral work undertaken in parishes.
The first session of the Seminar consisted of two presentations: one on the role of the moderator; the other on the proceedings of the meetings of the Parish Pastoral Council and how these can be more effective. During the second session, all those present had the opportunity to meet personally with the Archbishop within their respective discussion groups, which were headed by the Members of the Secretariat’s Council. This helped to enhance direct contact between the Secretariat and the moderators. Furthermore, this project served to consolidate the working relationship between the Secretariat, the moderators and the parish.
At the end of the Seminar, the Archbishop encouraged all those present to take an active part and become more fully integrated in the life of the Church.
This Seminar was the first one to be organised by the Secretariat for Parish Life and Activities, under the direction of the Archbishop’s Delegate, Fr Ray Toledo.
