On Saturday 8th January 2010, Archbishop Paul Cremona OP began a pastoral visit in Zabbar and Xghajra. After celebrating mass, the Archbishop met the committee members of civil and social organizations. Amongst those present were the two Local Councils, political and band clubs and other organizations which are based in Zabbar and Xghajra. During the meeting, some difficulties which these organizations face were pointed out, with particular reference to the commitment of youth. On the positive side, it is evident that these organizations work very hard and they coordinate well together and also with the Parish. It was mentioned that some months ago, the Parish began an exercise in which the Parish Council meets regularly with the committees of these organizations in order to enhance dialogue and in order to coordinate their efforts to resolve social problems in Zabbar. The Archbishop urged upon the need for the parishoners to work closely together for the good of the community.
